We are open!

Greetings from us!

Stanstead Lodge is open since yesterday the 14th of September! Not all the activities are on yet but they are all slowly starting to give the centre a feeling of “normality”.

Tricia, one of our members and volunteer wrote this:

“….so Stanstead Lodge is re-opening !  This is very good news. It’s a place I discovered a few years back when in a difficult phase of life. Back in London after quite a while abroad, I had very few friends and hardly any nearby family.  When I stepped through the door I was welcomed and guided through the different activities available. I was able to just sit with a coffee and talk to a few warm-hearted people in the sun-lit  cafe  and gently relax .  It’s a place we can just pop in and out of anytime and gradually feel into activities that interest us. I have come and gone over time and have been touched by the happy welcome received whenever I reappeared.  S.L. has brought me some real friends that I enjoy doing things with and I so appreciate that we all look out for each other, particularly in these tricky times….”

We are happy that everyone is excited to be back! What are you waiting to pay us a visit?

There are a few new rules that we have printed and hanged around the centre to remind everyone to keep safe and also others around you.

Also let you know that activities will have reduced numbers of no more than 6 people to comply with the rules published from the government, and some of them have had to increase the price to cover tutor’s fees. Please ask for more info if interested.

The centre’s membership this year will be starting from October and will cover for the last six months of the financial year (31st of March) so you will only have to pay half of it (£12).

Our Lodge Cafe is open too! It will be closed from a bit earlier, 3pm. They have made a few changes around to comply with the rules so it is safe for everyone. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the yummy food, so what are you waiting for?

Catching Up

Dear members and website visitors,

I hope you all are well and healthy. We haven’t posted for a while but we are back!

The centre has been running on just a few activities with social distancing and masks since August. There was Tai Chi and Yoga and also gardening that has been like a safe way of meeting for a few members as it was in the open space outside. We even had an “Unplanned picnic” on the last day of July!

We had a just the members that could make it at very short notice and some classical music playing in the background from a band that were rehearsing in the hall.

It was a lovely day and for many, this was the first day out after a long while. So everyone pretty much enjoyed this.

Find a few photos below.

Virtual Aid

Some of you have been coming to the Digital Drop In which runs every Friday at Stanstead Lodge from 1.30 to 3.30pm. Since the Lockdown, Catbytes, the organisation that runs the club, have reorganised what they do. They are now providing support for people’s IT issues over the phone.

As many people are finding themselves isolated at home at this time, there are many reasons why we might want support with our computers, tablets and mobile phones. This is a time when communicating with people remotely is more useful than ever, for practical reasons, and for our mental health.

If you would like to get support from Virtual Aid, please contact Tina at, or 07891 378614. You can find out more about Virtual Aid by looking on the Catbytes Website.
